    look at a credit rating? If they have three applications for a unit and some people have either not paid previous landlords,  credit cards, or just gone through bankruptcy, why should they get in over people who have not?

    And unfortunately, as a landlord I have gone easy on bad credit but good job people, only to be burned financially in the future.

    FWIW, I am not talking about the occasional late payment.
    But conscientious attitude toward debt is a better indicator of ability to pay than actual income.

      I have no credit score. I have no credit history.  I don't use credit.

      According to you, this should render me homeless, regardless of my ability to pay.
