  •  Whew! (3+ / 0-)

    Dodged one bullet!
As well as LA Times and Chicago Tribune, the deal included the Hartford Courant. one of two major papers left in my state. Not that the Courant is a fount of reason and truth now, but under Koch ownership I imagine it would have devolved into total crap.
And hopefully, the Murderdoch empire is in it's final plunge and so won't be buying.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

basically anyone with enough $$s to buy a major newspaper is going to be an asshole type 1%er.

(I'm sure it was diaried here) in the times a few days ago. When people started falling out at the warehouses because it was so hot:

the company chose a different solution. It arranged to station ambulances and paramedics out front during five days of excessive heat, according to The Morning Call, the Pennsylvania newspaper that broke the story. Fifteen workers were taken to area hospitals after they fell, and as many as 30 more were treated by paramedics at the warehouse.
