once the City of Collegedale, TN passed benefits for partners.  Collegedale is the only city in TN to do so.  Kat is a police officer for their city and wanted her wife to have the same benefits as other families do.

Some people in Collegedale were angry and hateful about this decision.  Apparently, the church is right about their with the other haters.

    •  I'm not talking about specific city ordinance (0+ / 0-)

And as I said the position of the church is not anything new.

However, I am willing to bet that the preachers in this church preached against homosexuality way before this specific city law was enacted.

Yet, they kept going to the same church - and only when push came to shove, when the church forced their hand in some kind of Solomonic choice - they decided to leave.

I am not saying they didn't do the right thing by leaving the church. I'm saying that I'm not very impressed with this enlightenment moment they suddenly experienced, the same way I was not impressed when Rob Portman suddenly switched his position when his son came out.
