  •  I can't help but notice that it passed. (5+ / 0-)

All those failed attempts, going all the way back to Truman - I just can't get on board with the idea that the guy who actually won the pot, when everyone else lose, did something wrong.

    •  you want to know what happened on that hand (0+ / 0-)

The casino took too much rake and the pot was light by about 1/2.

I sing praises in the church of nonsense, but in my heart I'm still an atheist, demanding sense of all things.

      •  Let's switch to baseball: Obama is Roger Marris. (7+ / 0-)

He hit 61 home runs, something no one had ever done before. Lot of people tried to break Babe Ruth's record. They all failed.

        Roger Marris succeeded.

You look at Roger Marris, and your reaction is not: "Wow! He hit 61 home runs! I wish I could hit as well as he can! That's one great hitter"

No, you look at Roger Marris doing something no one had ever been able to do before, and you say, "He should have hit 80 home runs. That guy's batting stance is all wrong."

Sorry, not buying it. You know how I can tell Barack Obama has a better grasp on the politics of passing health care through Congress than you? Because he, not you, was the one who was able to pass health care through Congress when everyone else who tried had failed.
