  •  I agree (4+ / 0-)

in that it seems an inefficient way to promote diaries by recognized front-pagers.

Since one of the major goals of DKos is to build the Dem / Progressive community and bring voices to the forefront, I like to imagine that there's a better way to do so.

What is it?  Heck if I know.

We're a diverse community with diverse hopes and expectations, so I think it's unlikely that a single answer might fit everybody.

You think it's hot? Imagine what it would be like if global warming really existed!

    •  I remember when it was not uncommon (5+ / 0-)

to have diaries from the plebians promoted to the FP.  It was a way to highlight issues that were very topical or to give visibility to a diary that was particularly well done or particularly funny.  Nowadays I don't see much of that here.

      It's the Supreme Court, stupid!

Promotions to the FP have been rare since I signed up.

I sort of view the FP and the rec list as two different things--perhaps wrongly?

In my head, FP = folks who are generally recognized FP'ers like Meteor Blades, Adam B, Kos, etc., etc., etc. with rare exception including people the community has indicated interest in.  Non-"FP'er" FP diaries are and will continue to be rare.

That said, and since a stated goal of DK is to build community, it seems that inclusion of FP folks' diaries in the rec list doesn't necessarily advance the community's goals as efficiently as possible.

That said, I'm just some guy.  WTF do I know?
