  •  If Obama cripples the Syrian military (7+ / 0-)

enabling the "rebels" and mercenaries to overthrow Assad (as is the objective, IMHO) then what happens when they take over?

In Libya, there were stockpiles of arms on the loose.  We had covert operations there to gather and secure those arms and funnel some of them to Syria.

I believe that the amount of arms and equipment in Syria far outnumbers what was in Libya.

Who will be in charge of securing all of those?  Who will get that task?  And will we see a repeat of gathering up arms, arming the mercenary jihadists and will they go to Lebanon or somewhere else to continue the destabilization?  Iran is still on the list of countries but I get the sense that the game plan for Iran is different from the rest. But I really don't know.

    •  it looks like the goal is not to empower the rebel (5+ / 0-)

forces to the point that they can take over.  it looks like the goal is to enable them to continue fighting and fighting without end.  obama appears willing to be al-qaeda's air force in pursuit of keeping the destabilization going.
