for your dislike of the comment thread!
Der Spiegel did not have complete confirmation until now.
Thus the new article with additional info.
It's a good informative diary worthy of recommendation imo.

    •  that's why I wrote this comment, (5+ / 0-)

I didn't mean to punish the diarist, but had a moment of nervous push-button disorder. Dude.

I have my issues with the way the rec button thingy works. First I don't know why it gives us not the option to change our mind twice. Second I don't know why it doesn't allow us to rec a comment after some time, like a day or two, whatever it is.

      •  dudette not dude :) (4+ / 0-)

I would also like to be able to change my mind back on diary recs. Sometimes an update makes all the difference.

Also agree on the comment recs. I work long hours all week and sometimes don't get around to things for days after they've been published. I would love to be able to rec comments later.

not being allowed to know the genders of users that write and comment here.

Some folks in the administration are in denial of the fact that there are those "little differences" among them genders. And that not knowing to what genders you are talking to or expecting to remember all those thousands of users and their comment history, which might have revealed what they are, is a BFstoopidD.

I just read the Wikipedia entry for "Der Spiegel" and one little thing in their entry reminds me of "Dailykos".

Politicians of all stripes who had to deal with the magazine's attention often voiced their disaffection for it. The outspoken conservative Franz Josef Strauß contended that Der Spiegel was "the Gestapo of our time". He referred to journalists in general as "rats".[9] The Social Democrat Willy Brandt called it "Scheißblatt" (i.e., a "shit paper") during his term in office as Chancellor.

Der Spiegel often produces feature-length articles on problems affecting Germany (like demographic trends, the federal system's gridlock or the issues of its education system) and describes optional strategies and their risks in depth.[10][11][12][13][14]

Similar passions I have towards Dailykos ... :-)

Reminds me of my father who discarded any argument you got from "Der Spiegel" as "what else is new and f'n biased", but couldn't help reading it. BFD, it reminds me of myself in my twenties discarding all people, who thought "Der Spiegel" is a "Scheissblatt (shit paper). Those people I considered "shit heads".

I am feeling so darn old, dudette. :-)

          •  If some dislike "Spiegel", how about "Focus"? n/t (0+ / 0-)

"Der Spiegel", imo. So, those who seriously do, I ignore... :-). I can't make a good judgement about "Focus" ... I mean you get "the news" like out of the water canons and they make you wet no matter what. For practical reasons I guess you read whatever you think is most fact-based and precise and not influenced by popular opinion. Der Spiegel online gets a bit chatty sometimes for my taste. I really read very few articles in there.  I haven't tried to read Focus. What for. The news come out of my ears already and all I want is not reading any more of them. :)
