feed her family next week and how she'll afford her daughter's medication is a concern and she's wondering if her kids will ever be able to break through the rut she's been grinding through AND it has been a constant concern for the last 3 years, then YES the NSA issue is dessert.

The food analogy is not only good, but it is highly ironic.

But we've each got our own sense of priorities and opinions about priorities.

Also those of us, like you, who are highly concerned about civil rights sometimes think that voter rights are more urgent than surveillance for a couple of reasons:

    1) As foundations go, our right to vote is a cornerstone for citizens to make progress on all other issues, including state surveillance.

    2) The impact of voter discrimination widely impacts people in tangible ways right now.  It brings a higher sense of urgency for some.  For example if one day I "open the paper" and read about a US citizen who was seriously abused and harmed by existing surveillance, I will elevate the issue higher on my list.
