I'm delighted with my service at Ace-Host.net.

5 Gig of storage, 50 GB bandwidth, all the bells and whistles, and online control panel, and as cheap as GoDaddy if you take a longer contract.

I took a very short subscription to start, because I'd just been burned by GoDaddy (which sucks more than the telling of it). After three months, I'd had quick effective responses from tech support, no interruptions of service and I was pleased, so I decided to re-up for a longer contract. I contacted billing and they BACKDATED the discount, so instead of getting a cheaper next year of service, they charged me as if I'd had the longer contract from the beginning.

I couldn't be happier with them.

You are confusing domain registration and web hosting, two very different things. :)  GoDaddy is primarily a registrar, and if there's anything they do well, it's being a registrar - definately not a webhost.

I can't comment on GoDaddy's registration service. There isn't much "service" involved in registration, unless you transfer or buy new. I supposed I'll find out the quality of GoDaddy's registrar services when my transfer off their servers goes through (or if it's held up).

GoDaddy's webhost services suck, though. I have the experience to testify to it.

I will direct you back to the title of the post this thead comes from "Does your Web Host support torture"

It's also worth noting that their email service is erratic, unpredictable, and unreliable, and that their customer service folks are pretty clueless regarding anything technical.

As a registrar, I don't think they're that bad - Dotster is undoubtedly worse - but they're one of thousands of large companies who do a very, very bad job of providing webhosting.
