    Obama as cited

"There is no doubt that when you start seeing chemical weapons used on a large scale," Obama told CNN Friday, "then that starts getting to some core national interests that the United States has, both in terms of us making sure that weapons of mass destruction are not proliferating, as well as needing to protect our allies, our bases in the region."
The use of such weapons isnt proliferation is it? If it were nonproliferation anyone would be after, then they would have to help Assad suppress the rebellion because its been a track record that that regime dont go around and sell them on local flea markets.

"protect our bases and allies" ?? In Syria?? that is on the face unbelievable, or twisted. Its like blaming someone who you have hit with a fist that they put their face in your fists way.

I am rather convinced that Obama means well in a shitty situation, but this public statement as an intervention rationale is rather abominable. If they want to intervene let them try and give an upright, truthful rationale!

But it would occur if the rebels (and their AQ compatriots) win the war and seize the military's weapons. For this reason alone, I am really getting less and less warm and fuzzy about the rebels.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!
