tweeted earlier today (sources seemed legit--i'll try to dig up the link later) that strikes would likely begin between Fri. and Mon., with a coalition of at the moment 30 participating countries (mostly non-military, w/logistical/financial/other support).

I don't believe that Arab countries are involved in this coalition, with the exception of Jordan.  Turkey is (for its own reasons, obviously) involved as well--and certainly US/GBR/FR.

I would like to see the full range of evidence, of course, that this was definitely the actions of the regime (I believe it was--but I know as little as anyone else).  It certainly sounds like minds have been solidly made up within the past few days, and (as Kerry suggested himself), the UN findings do not seem to be an integral part of the equation, as they are not assigning responsibility--merely determining the extent of use, effects, etc.

That said, I obviously don't LIKE the fact that such decisions are being made without paying much heed to the inspectors--nor do I like anything about this whole damn conflict, obviously.  It is hell.

Basically we are damned if we go in--we are also damned if we do nothing (although I think the latter option is probably the correct course).  There is no answer to the conflict.

It is ALWAYS the western countries that seem to get involved in these coalitions with respect to ME conflict.  Damn it, if the Saudi, Yemenis, Iranians, Iraqis and other ME countries can not get involved, then we shouldn't either.  These types of things NEVER work out for us.  We are seen as the aggressors and then targeted by terrorists.

I think the whole thing is an impending clusterfuck of doom.  Of course, it is already one.

        No answers from me...

But that doesn't stop us roaming the world blowing shit up.

Then again, it is our only viable export.

You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment.-- Francis Urqhart
