  •  here it's the vultures circling the lenders (10+ / 0-)

a slightly different twist on what you are referring to above.

[a member of the GLBT lending team] wrote:

"As well as Opus Dei, the Strathmore Foundation, a " a US based 501 (c) 3 registered Non-Profit organization," lists as its partners the European Union, Microsoft, Intel, IFC World Bank Group, Swisscontact, and, most tellingly, AMFI (the Association of Micro Finance Institutions)."

    and I responded:
So: Opus Dei, the European Union, Microsoft, Intel, IFC World Bank Group, and the others need help from small microlenders - really?

I'd also like to point out that due to the very large amounts of money and the very long term of the loan, the idea that we are loaning to the students is really not accurate at all. We are providing interest free loans, totaling what is it, a quarter million dollars or so? - that will not even begin paying back until 2019, and not finish until 2024 if I recall correctly. We are providing those loans to Opus Dei, under cover of nice photos of students.

What I do know is it's not possible to be fully human if you are being surveilled 24/7. -Pamela Jones
