    What an astonishingly bad idea!

    Yeah, there are "market based reforms" that might actually be useful, such as requiring health care providers to have transparent, consistent pricing for all patients other than charity care.

    But banning health insurance is a horrid idea.  Yeah, most of us could pay for routine doctor's office visits, but I can't imagine prices dropping enough to make, say, cancer treatment affordable to anyone below the top 1% without insurance.

        illegal. Any free market allows people to insure unexpected risks. I do think the practice of health insurance for routine physician care is a fundamental reason our system is so faulty. But people should always be able to insure unexpected trauma or catastrophic disease.
