  •  this is not news yet (8+ / 0-)

some of you don't like it when the President does something. But since he's already done it, it's old news and you should shrug your shoulders.

This particular item isn't even new news (and if it were then it would be old news) so you should not be concerned about it because it hasn't happened.

      •  I have a new theory (3+ / 0-)

that there are different groups approaching what the President does, coming from different directions.

There are some who really like President Obama and feel that he's smart enough and honest enough to do what's right. Thus these people will approve whatever the President does.

Then there are some, who are quite a bit to the right of me, who want some things I don't want at all...things I'd consider Republican-lite goals. And the President often comes out with statements or proposals or nominations that are exactly what those people want so it's not so much that they love the President, it's more they love the policies that he happens to endorse.

I'm not sure which group I like better, not that it matters.

But my point here is that there are some supporters of the President who are personality driven and some who are policy driven. I also think that both groups would describe themselves as "policy driven".

And if this is true then the opposite is likely to be true, too. There are some who dislike the President, don't trust him, and expect to hate anything he does.

In the matter of Larry Summers, since Obama hasn't made the appointment yet I think it's better to oppose Summers without knocking the President. Then we can call it "giving advice" rather than being critical.

        Oh wait....

Interesting thing about that little freak-out: it, too, was started by an Ezra Klein column touting his super duper inside sources.

          •  Looks like somebody bit hard on the Bowles rumor. (0+ / 0-)

Sore spot? Sorry about that, but my getting that one right, and you getting it wrong, doesn't put you in a position to feign superior insight.

a serious possibility and I never nibbled, let alone bit.

Distinguishing between the sorts of empty rumors endemic to the Village and the deliberately-leaked trial balloons the Village actually thrives on is indeed a subtle process, but I'm sure you can get the hang of it if you focus.
