  •  I noticed all the smell/taste words, but didn't (8+ / 0-)

    pick up the full sensual symphony at work. I find synesthesia fascinating, and creative crossings between the senses, and between inner and outer experience, always thrill me (e.g. fear tasting like aluminum in your mouth).

    I'd ask you to drop more poems into your diaries - but it occurs to me that you probably have, if I'll just go hunting for them.

    •  This one is from someone else's diary (9+ / 0-)

      I would often read a diary by another poet and add my own in the comments:

      I am a woman, but I chose Apollo

      as he has become after his first incarnation because he became more subtle and life affirming...more the musician and healer, imo.

      The female goddesses always seem to each be too much of an archtype and I need more blending.  I have aspects of Aphrodite, Artemis and Athene and I really like the goddess of justice, Astraea.

      Which one is the goddess of mercy?

      My Choice

      I value freedom and mercy so often dearly bought.
      I will choose the listening goddess,
      the one who has walked the treadmill
      with mankind and not just rested
      with her feet up on a cloud ordering
      those pitiful mortals to worship and obey;
      the one who understands love and pain
      the one who forgives.
