You find me ONE example where an indigent person in the state of Florida was allowed $300,000--$400,000
for "costs" and then we will talk.
Costs are costs, and if the law says that defendants are entitled to a refund of all court costs aside from legal fees without limit, then I don't see why Zimmerman should receive any different treatment.

If I were making the policies, the state would reimburse all not-guilty defendants for their legal fees, too. From the standpoint of the state, all not-guilty defendants were unjustly accused by the state and forced to defend themselves in a court of law; if acquitted, defendants should be entitled to complete restitution if the state can't prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

      Of course it matters.
Indigent people aren't privy to the luxury of a court case presented like we saw in the case of George Zimmerman, so there aren't those exorbitant 'costs'.  In the real world, they're swept under the rug.  There are public defenders, but what's the likelihood their defense of an indigent person would be anything like the one Mark O'Mara presented for George Zimmerman?
      Right, none.
Why are so many poor people in jail?  And so many rich people, and controversial people (like GZ who get media-hog lawyers like O'Mara to defend them) free after committing crimes?  It isn't lost on people who paid attention that GZ was arrested only after a major public outcry about his killing an unarmed teenager.
      It does matter.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose....AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
