  •  Poorly Told Story (6+ / 0-)

Your version of the story is adequately told to the reader to know it's Louis' fantasy, not reality.

The cartoon does not give any real clue that it's just a fantasy. The cell where Louis is now alone drawing, before the next cell where Jessica enters the scene in dramatic, sexy silhouette, would be the natural place to indicate somehow that the rest of the scene is fantasy. But there's no such indication. There is no indication of fantasy anywhere.

If readers don't realize the story is presented as fantasy, that's author Bolling's fault, not the reader's. It's the author's responsibility to communicate, not the reader's to create a story that wasn't presented.

And the fact that you had to take five paragraphs to explain it also means it was poorly done.
Not only was there no indication this was a daydream - there wasn't even any indication the female was a sister. In fact, you could say it was indicated this was the mother.
      Very poorly done.

it is the guys sister. How could even the simplest social problem get discussed adequately when people cannot interpret the simplest details accurately? Between you, "Friendly Neighbor," and so many others I've read here, I really have to wonder... is it just plain fear that gets in the way of calm reasoning? Whatever could cause such fear, if that is the root here, the world is much poorer for it.
