    why do have them anyway?

    we should be robots.

    then we would be perfect.

and we'd never be tricked by the vast super partisan conspiracy to start wars.

god!  when will our robot overlords get here?!

i want to plug into the matrix!

      - even "limited engagements" - should be taken with cool, collected minds, not manipulation of populations over emotional heart-tugs.

A couple years ago, that manipulative video about "Kobe" came out. It mostly consisted of a little white kid being told about horrible things (in limited terms) by his concerned dad, juxtaposed with things about Kobe.  Come to find out, the money raised by the manipulative video was to be used to campaign for more soldiers and US soldiers to hunt down Kobe.

Meanwhile in Africa, people in the know thought that was absolutely the wrong thing to do.

Emotional manipulation.  Never a good reason to go to war.  Never a good lead up to war, even if there are other causes behind it.

If this was a video outside the framework of our nation preparing attacks on another, that would be one thing. But in the lead up to attacks, the timing leads to cynicism. Provided by the Washington Post.

Sadly, our bombing won't resolve the conflict in any way and won't reduce suffering among the rebels or the populations they control. There are plenty sad scenes behind this happy one.
