That those wealthy playgrounds are slipping away.  Us po folks, in our abject misery, may chuckle at the thought that they cannot completely escape the fruit age of their folly.

I wonder where they think they'll live, what they imagine they'll eat, what they will breathe and drink, once they have destroyed it all.

    •  Only - - there are those (0+ / 0-)

of us who live here in Florida and  who depend on those tourists if we want to put food on our tables and roofs over our heads.  We don't get to the beaches all that often - but we do depend on Spring Break to make ends meet.

Oil is a distant second to tourism, down here, to keep our economy perking.   And it's suffering these days.

We really ARE all in this together.  Really.  We are.  So thumbing our noses at the rich who want to maintain the status quo at all costs is short sighted.  Educating them works far better - - if they will only listen.  Or open their eyes.

      •  That, I fear, will never happen. (0+ / 0-)

They know full well what they do.  Their's is a profound sickness.  It leaves the brain in feverish pursuit of more, and more, and more, without regard for the suffering and destruction in their wakes.  Like drug addicts, the only thing that matters is their need.

They don't give a rats ass.  We will never make them care or help them see.

Unfortunately it is going to take some enormus catastrophee before they acknowledge that climate change is real, that global warming is real.  Even then, they may try to find another explaination.  I also agree, our economy here is bad, and our governer is hiding his head in the vanishing sand if he doesn't realize it.  Our beaches are our biggest attraction. Without them, we have Disney and a few other parks and the equally vanishing Everglades.  Not just the rich use those beaches, we live 80 miles inland from any beach, but we do occasionally go there.  In 1978 when we moved here, there were still sand dunes in Cresent Beach just south of St. Augustine.  Now there are Condos.

explanation."  Exactly!  That is precisely what will happen.
The Koch Brothers paid 'scientists' will talk up sun spots or coming ice ages or cosmic rays, and the cons will believe it, because they apparently believe whatever FNC is shoveling.
