  •  This disturbs me... (10+ / 0-)

Had this young woman killed the man, she would have been tried as an adult and faced the consequences of our laws.  Yet this man is allowed to practically walk because this juvenile was deemed "mature beyond her years".   He is an adult and should he not face adult consequences?  He broke the law and raped a minor!  Where is the hard hand of justice when it comes to this rapist?  It disgusts me that it is common to treat juveniles as adults in all situations now in criminal law.  Yet, these same juveniles can not vote, drive, drink alcohol, have a credit card, sign contracts, work in most states (if under 16), etc.  It's as if our society has basically given in to the idea that one must bear the burden of consequences no matter what age, but not be trusted with responsibility and citizenship until "we say so".  I haven't worded this as eloquently as I would like to, but this wrong on so many levels.  This man raped a young woman and finds kids sexually attractive.  He should be punished.  Period!
