  •  Is it just me, or... (8+ / 0-)

... does it seem like women convicted of statutory rape tend to get the book thrown at them while men tend to skate?

I seem to remember cases where female teachers -- much closer in age to the victims -- went to jail for several years.  It seems -- and, again, maybe I'm misremembering -- like men tend to get off much easier.  Someone posted something here yesterday about only 20 percent of statutory rapists being sentenced to any time at all.  I'm too lazy to look it up.

    •  Well, you know, women are clearly the sexual (5+ / 0-)

predators and even adult males are just victims of their precocious, hypnotic advances. Men just can't control themselves. It's not physically possible when confronted with the power of the female! Give the poor, helpless bastards a break.

      That aside.....
While following the Kaitlyn Hunt story, I read several posts with references to Fla conviction rates...and didn't see any pre-disposition to sentence females more harshly.  Did see stats that MANY more men commit rape than women. The cases of female  predation are more memorable because they are get more news coverage. Salacious...
