    remembrance today:
    =============
    Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the House's two most senior Republicans, were invited to speak at the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington -- but declined, Roll Call reports.

    As always, GOP leadership stays classy.

    Leviticus: “When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself"

    •  Were the Presidents Bush invited? Their absence... (0+ / 0-)

      ...was conspicuous.
      If that was their choice, it speaks poorly of them.
      If it was because they weren't invited, I respectfully suggest it would have been better if they had been.
      Missed opportunity to look politically magnanimous...
      And either way, whether they'd shown up or not, I'm sure their behavior would have spoken volumes.
      I would have loved to see them try to do a Rand-Paul-at-Howard, or a Mitt-at-the-NAACP on this occasion!

      what point you're trying to make with your Leviticus 19:32-33a reference. The Republican leadership is obstructionary, but, that's not "classy". What could the party of Lincoln, who are now so far afield of his principles -- say at the 50th celebration for the March on Washington(?), nothing! Perhaps you mean that Republicans of today are strangers/sojourners in the party of Lincoln, and we, non-Republicans, should love them in spite of themselves. At least it's food for thought, (thinking) Naw!

      •  Just a bit of sarcasm. Hint: Boehner's not really (1+ / 0-)

        "classy".

        Leviticus unrelated to comment. It's a bit of a swipe for Republicans being uncharitable towards immigrants.
