    •  I have confidence in Barack Obama's (0+ / 0-)

ability to listen to various opinions and come to his own determination. I just don't think that the man on the street, who knows nothing about Syria, should be a voice worth listening to. And I'm pretty sure Obama agrees with this.

      •  So we're all ignorant and should be ignored? (3+ / 0-)

Obama does not exactly have a background in international diplomacy.  I doubt he came to the White House with an education in Mideast culture or history.  And he certainly doesn't have military training.  So, in this area he is the "man on the street".  And as long as he only gets advice from the usual warmongers, there is little chance he'll behave any differently.

Now, if he was being advised by Noam Chomsky, I wouldn't think a mass response would be as necessary.  But Obama is more likely to arrest Chomsky than heed his advice.

        Squeaky wheel time.

        •  If he were being advised on linguistics (0+ / 0-)

by Chomsky, that would be great. Foreign policy, not so much.

          •  don't understand why the President should not (4+ / 0-)

listen to the 25% who DO know where Syria is, especially those from military families, like myself, who have family members who have served, and are serving overseas, and in the Middle East in particular.

Our President SHOULD have on his advisory board...cabinet...representatives of his stakeholders... we the people....if not, we have the right and privilege to voice our opinions, one on one, with the President.

I HOPE that even ONE voice for restraint, non-aggression, non-violent response, non-escalation is heard within the bounds of the President's advisors. I HOPE that our President has his ear, at least sometimes, 'to the ground', to check the pulse of the American people...or pulses...since there is a diversity of opinion. I don't want our President just to be the 'decider in chief'...I DO want him to act on my behalf, as well, respond to MY concerns, even if through assistants.

          •  Chomsky ain't just a linguist. (0+ / 0-)

Try looking at the wiki page on his political positions.  He's better qualified to advise on a host of issues than is almost anyone else.

            Which is why he's ignored.
