  •  Hehe. (15+ / 0-)

I think you and I are similarly frustrated by some of the know-nothing CT flying around at this site.

    •  Well, you know everything, right? (4+ / 0-)

It is far better to just accept what you are being told by the government. You are so much cooler that way.

I don't know Lawrence. I think you usually try to be a sensible person, but you never met a war or military action you did not support--at least since I've corresponded with you here. How Libya doing? You were so interested in it before we bombed it.

You and angry marmot are too cool for school.

Not so easy to be cool if you spent nearly a year on a tiny little unprotected FOB and couldn't get funds or help to construct simple shit like barriers.

While KBR had a huge village at Bagram and they were paid big bucks to do things like build a ridiculous chow hall with marble floors at Camp Phoenix in Kabul. While Blackwater assholes drove around like they owned the place and had better equipment, vehicles, radios, and weapons. Funny, they never left the base with all that cool shit in Kunar.

Hard not to think that my mission took second place to the money laundering. But, I am not cool or sophisticated like you or angry marmot.

Or at least apologize for it?

Because it is utter bullshit and a dickish insult, to boot.

Maybe you should read through my recent comments before posting crap like that?

        Like this one, for example:

I tend to trust Obama on this, as well, but (6+ / 0-)
I'm not sure that I trust quite a few of his advisors and I sure as hell don't trust the countries pushing for this, like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, etc.  They are not honest players in this.

If this attack was done by the Assad Regime, I don't think they were trying to commit genocide, but were trying to use the cw for tactical purposes and something went wrong.  If they were just trying to wipe people out, far more people would be dead.

I also think that there is a real danger of this becoming a genocide if we strike and weaken the Assad Regime to a degree that there is a rapid regime collapse and extremist Sunni/Jihadist groups go on even more of a rampage than they already are.

I think that Obama is well aware of this danger and that is why we haven't been involved in Syria in any serious manner.

Here's an interesting read about the potential dangers in Syria:

A danger for the United States is the hard-line groups among the opposition, who would benefit from any U.S. attack.
        snip

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, expressed a similar concern when he wrote a letter last month outlining possible military options in Syria.

"Should the regime's institutions collapse in the absence of a viable opposition, we could inadvertently empower extremists or unleash the very chemical weapons we seek to control," Dempsey wrote.

Feel free to review my other comments in that diary in order to get a better understanding of why I am frustrated by the CT b.s.

he may not be around here 24/7 like some folks and he may have missed your most recent posts. but until them, i'd have to agree with him.

and you're insulting a whole swath of folks here using that bright and shiny "CT" brickbat that some of us were afraid would become the newest brickbat to hit critics over the head with. surprise, we were right.

don't insult others if you don't want to get insulted back.

hey ranger995, poligirl, "You never met a conspiracy theory you didn't like... at least since I've corresponded with you here".

If you don't see the difference between that kind of very personal insult, which you decided to rec, and a general exasperation with ct bullshit that has included links to conspiracy theory sites like Alex Jones' infowars website, then I really don't have anything else to say.

you weren't talking about Alex Jones and InfoWars shit - that's you being disingenuous and you know it. and so do most folks reading this thread.

we all know how you meant it. and that's why you got the reply you did.

and your try for protective cover trying to insinuate Alex Jones stuff is what you meant is pretty weak as well.

i think i'm about done with this convo, so i'll give you the last insult. knock yerself out.

and the processes through which aspects of our military have been outsourced to contractors whose agenda are... hmmm, let's say "less than altruistic"... are fundamentally wrong and should be rolled back, imo. That said, I find invocations of "the MIC" or "PNAC" or whatever cabal is deemed to be controlling the Admin's decision-making to be simplistic, hyperbolic and ultimately unproductive. Influential? Sure. All-powerful? Nah...
