  •  I'm comfortable with the regulation of trusts, (5+ / 0-)

    but I outright oppose the (re)importation ban.

    Holding NFA items in a trust is an excellent way to:

    1. Control the circumstances of inspection (no knocks in the middle of the night.)

    2. Seamlessly transfer "ownership" in the event of a sudden and unforeseeable death and;

    3. Lend items between friends/family members without committing a felony.

    None of that is changed by this regulation, and if I need to get a stamp to purchase, everyone else who is a beneficiary of the trust should be someone able to do the same.

    Now, about that importation ban...

    Regardless of it's intent, all it will do is make fully automatic weapons much, much more expensive over time. The intent of the NFA was not to restrict ownership of certain weapons to the 1%.

    The ban on the sale of pre-1986 fully automatic weapons by the FOPA really should just be repealed altogether, but that's a fight for another day.
