if this counts as being a "tremendous dick" a quarter of the comments here would be hidden.

This was hidden only because you don't agree with his position.

I don't particularly like the comment, but will uprate because I loathe this kind of pack censorship.

Sneering at and handwaving the death of an innocent black teenager is the lowest form of bigotry.

Calling it "Pack censorship" is just another means of whitesplaining.

      •  There was nothing like that in the initial comment (0+ / 0-)

        Go back and reread it.

        But thanks for your packsplainin'

        •  Two possibilities: (0+ / 0-)

Thirty-two people agree that it was whitesplainin' and you don't.

You're the lone voice of reason amidst thirty-two knee-jerk reactive 'pack' people who aren't thinking,

You're the one who's not seeing things clearly.

I'm going to stick with "GFY."

          •  If a few dozen obsessive Zimmerman haters (0+ / 0-)

didn't sign on to a comment like that you'd have reason to be very disappointed.  For me, it fails to impress.

BTW, you are coming dangerously close to threadjacking, in my highly subjective view.  I intend to lay it to rest myself.

In the spirit of good will I will assume "GFY" means "Good for you!"

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

            •  No, it means "Go fuck yourself." (0+ / 0-)

And I mean it doubly so with your incredibly asinine "Zimmerman haters" remark. Were this not an old thread, I expect you'd be joining your friend in the hiddens.

              •  What fascinates me (0+ / 0-)

is how many people seem to be driven by hatred - it motivates them and shapes their philosophy to the point that they go out of their way to feed that hatred and revel in it.   Fascinating, and disturbing.

                •  I'm not surprised (0+ / 0-)

you can't differentiate contempt from hatred.

Contempt is what I feel for people like you, who have so much hatred in your hearts that you would justify the murder of an unarmed black teenager, and defend his murderer by calling those who want justice for that teenager "obsessive Zimmerman haters."

Do you revel in your defense of a murderer?

where MB calls this comment what it is - a highjack of the diary.

      •  If that was a threadjack there sure were a lot of (0+ / 0-)

willing participants.  They all contributed to diverting the readers' attention from the subject.  HR was piled upon HR.  A predictable flame war ensued.

The initial comment itself was in essence similar to dozens that are made here daily.  But those are in diaries on other topics...

That initial comment should have just been left lying there.  It's one point of view, and it's not a rare one, even on the left.   The reaction I observed was much less about threadjacking than about that viewpoint.

    •  HR for the bad faith uprate. (0+ / 0-)

This is a diary about the Trayvon Martin case and the comment you uprated is a threadjack in violation of site rules, as confirmed in this comment by Meteor Blades.

Your claim about "pack censorship" is disingenuous. You have been one of the biggest defenders of George Zimmerman on this site and it's clear that you uprated the comment because you don't agree with the underlying message of the diary and want to see it get derailed.

I want to see it get derailed???!!!

Perhaps the pertinent point in the community guidelines is that threadjacking "truly is subjective."  So, whatever.

For what it's worth, I have never been a Zimmerman "defender."  Don't like him, never did.  Believed the police had not properly investigated the shooting.  Was pleased to seem him charged.
My views on it changed somewhat as more evidence came in, and the lack of evidence became more apparent.
You will find zero comments in which I "defend" Zimmerman, beyond stating that a murder conviction requires a standard of evidence that wasn't met, that it is not illegal to follow someone as Zimmerman did, and that if Martin struck Zimmerman first, then in my view he initiated the confrontation.  Those views would apply to anyone in those circumstances, even George Zimmerman.
