  •  The problem with divorcing for cause, (4+ / 0-)

    such as infidelity (adultery) or abuse is that the petitioner must prove the cause.  Proving infidelity or abuse can be extremely difficult and hugely expensive.  For the most part, whether there is actual cause or not, filing for a no-fault divorce is easier, less expensive and leaves no avenue for the spouse to deny the petition.
