  •  Come to Southern Maryland if you need woods. (10+ / 0-)

My acreage has woods so close to my house that when the neighbor teenage idyut burned a pile of leaves, he came close to burning me down, too.

Shame was the fire killed off the old apple tree in his back yard, the one the deer used to love.

    Idyut.

Now the deer take their afternoon breaks in the shade of my oaks and maples.  And chew on the foliage of my young apple trees.

Plus there's a year-round creek running through my back yard.  It ran dry in 2003, but it's been burbling happily since.

There are actually people who clear their rural lots of all trees.  Where do they think they're living?  And just how underdeveloped are their brains?

    Idyuts.

But learn to check for ticks whenever you indulge.

      No ticks or fleas either...

Your beliefs don't make you a better person. Your behavior does.

I record each tick I find on me and its description to show my doc every spring, before he sends me for my Lyme Disease test.  So far, so good.

Another benefit (!!) of global warming.  Ticks weren't an issue here until ~2009.
