  •  I can think of another Yahoo epic fail option (8+ / 0-)
I suppose that my only real recourse at this point is to start posting this complaint everywhere on the internet until someone brings it to the attention of Yahoo.
    Your only real recourse? Seriously?

I can think of another "Yahoo! Sucks" option, and it doesn't involve spamming the rest of the internet with junk content that won't be appreciated or enabled by very many who see it. (Why would you assume that the logical response to this sort of thing is that the masses join you in bugging Yahoo! rather than, say, shrugging their shoulders and ignoring you from here on out?)

    Here it is:

If Yahoo is not responsive to legitimate complaints of abusive behavior and abusive individuals, to the point where you seriously feel your safety may be compromised and they don't seem to care?

You could stop using Yahoo! Groups. Yahoo! Mail. You could, in the future, never ever ever ever ever share personal information at such a place no matter if you stay or go. But. At some point, the unresponsiveness requires you vote with your digital feet, not assume that mass spammings of the rest of the digital world will bring you satisfaction.

And if Yahoo! Groups is so vital to your digital life that you simply cannot walk away, maybe you need to seriously think about why that is. At some point, the answer to they tolerate abusive behavior and refuse to do anything about it as a problem is: Goodbye Yahoo!.

That really isn't the desireable path, but there doesn't seem to be any alternative if Yahoo will not respond to abuse complaints submitted through normal channels.
There doesn't seem to be any alternative?

Yahoo! message boards, at one time hung underneath Yahoo content of all sorts, were literally legendary digital cesspools of trolling and abusive content and behavior as far back as the early 1990's.

It took almost a decade and a half for them to even start to attempt to clean up the most vile places under their imprint. That's nearly 15 years. In internet time, that means they let an ice age pass before they noticed that they were hip deep in shit. That's a level of daft they should write folk songs about.
