It's not hot yet. It will be.

What was I into before it was cool? I asked this just because it seems to be part of the Hipster Lament. Within the crowds that I ran in as a teen and young adult, lots of things were cool, and we did discover lots of things before they were cool. But I think everyone has something like that, whether it be some fashion, some music, some author. My best friend's mom used to discover all this great music that later become "cool," and usually within about a year everyone knew who the artist was. I went on to do the same, because I read the music press and would go buy recommended stuff unheard (I picked up, for instance, the first singles by The Cure and The Pretenders). Is it still cool? I'd say nothing that fits that category for me is still cool. I haven't been on any cutting edges for a long time. Ooh, maybe that means I'm dull!
My local weather has finally settled into its normal pattern, which is a drag, because I was really enjoying those cooler than normal temperatures.

I think that Dracula and Frankenstein are the only OLD classic horror I've read. I haven't read much Poe or any Lovecraft. If King counts as classic horror, I've read tons of his stuff. Of the new stuff I just tend to avoid it. I have an acquaintance who writes it, John Skipp, and man, his stuff is so hopeless. I don't need to be depressed!

What was that question again? Oh yeah, I remember big things that just happened, but routine things I forget, right down to, "did I take that pill today?" I think my earlier memories seem clearer, but are they really? I know that today is Friday. Only because of this diary, though....

Today's earworm is David Bowie's "Let's Dance," and I have no idea how it got there, since I haven't heard it in ages. I suspect a word or phrase I heard last night before bed may have triggered it.
