  •  So it's pretty much made up? (15+ / 0-)

Good lord. If only we could see this level of hang wringing over the children the US kills in our drone strikes.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.

and gives a little leeway in not killing as many as the act we'd be punishing them for.

Until there is some evidence that is better than the figures delivered by the hospitals in the area, which was under 300, I'm sticking with the Doctors. They are more reliable than our DNI and the people under him.

Americans dying from lack of basic healthcare funding in our own country.

Our own people. We can drop dead. Our children, too.

Well what the fuck about OUR children?

      Our people?

      OUR COUNTRY?

      What about US?

There's nothing isolationist about wanting to take care of our own people in our own goddamn back yard.  In case you hadn't noticed lately, we quit doing that a number of years ago.

          •  sorry (0+ / 0-)

We can take care of our own and others.
We owe it to them. Period.
            We can do both.
If you don't understand that...its sad.
So very sorry to break it to you.....a true progressive helps those in need outside our country. And doesn't keep posting what about me and us?????

And giving a shit about burned babies and children gets this from you...wow.

sophistry is already well-past the point of FAIL.

Progressives don't go around war-mongering over unconfirmed intel that doesn't even clearly demonstrate who the fucking enemy is. Progressives don't go around war-mongering, period. But if they do--just like their Neolib Democratic colleagues and their Republican counterparts, they better take it to Congress. Because if they don't, their war is illegal.

And if you're for illegal war, then you, my dear, are in no way Progressive.

                Keep digging.
You post what about our babies and us when appeals are made to help them.
You promote standing by and doing nothing while al Assad slaughters and gasses his  own people and children.
                Up to 100thousand slaughtered.
You keep yelling we should Do Nothing To stop him.
We should do absolutely nothing and its not our concern that babies and children and humans are being gassed, burned, poisoned, tortured, and killed.
You keep saying its not our worry.
And you think that is being a progressive.
                No, its not.

                •  I'm not digging (4+ / 0-)

And let's clear something else up for good here. What you advocate is not a Progressive virtue in any way.

Appropriating an identity when it clearly does not apply to you is wrong.

Advocating this "war" makes you little more than a neo-liberal-styled "Democrat", supporting death and destruction. And out of some misguided sense of revenge, based on shit you can't even prove yet.

A case so flimsy our sainted President won't even take it to Congress.

If anything is "right-wing", it's a mentality that trusts someone's WORD, in the face of spilled blood and promoting more hatred. And bankrupting your own people even further. That's disgusting, IMO. YMMV there, but one thing is absolutely clear--the idea that those who support this nonsense are some kind of progressive anything is laughably ridiculous.

Keep flailing your loyalty if you feel compelled, though. It's so honorable.

those Kuwaiti babies who were pulled out of their incubation stations in the lead up to the Gulf War. Too bad it never happened. Do you happen to have a source?

                •  And us killing more people solves what, exactly? (0+ / 0-)

How about gather all the intel.  Present it to the UN and ICC, and prosecute him after the war.  Throw some sanctions at the russian firms who supplied the chemical weapons or the means to assemble them (assuming it really was Assad's forces who used them, which, despite how many times it is repeated, has not been proven yet).  Isolate the regime.  Solicit and aid the defection of senior military officers.  Clear a path for negotiations and peace, not more bloodshed.

We may choose to help others elsewhere but we have no obligation to do it.  We may choose to work with an international community.

We are not paying for anyone else's sins and we do not have to fight anyone else's war or anyone else's cause.

      •  If we'd all have the decency to die (0+ / 0-)

in big piles it might make an impact.

But truly, the lack of proportional perspective in terms of guiding expenditures is one the most insane realities of modern American life. We'll spend literal trillions to stop what is in reality a minor risk to us while slashing funding where actual, provable impact can be made and where risks are real, well-measured and huge.

Instead of staging a protest or a sit-in, let's all hie our asses to Washington DC and have a die-in.

Got health issues? (I do) No insurance? (I don't).  Nothing else to lose? (Me either). What the hell, let's make 'em WATCH. And then watch them get even more pissed off at the cost of removing our corpses...

(an errant diagnosis, happily), I had plenty of fantasies about what to do in my final months. What I actually did was hang with my little kids, but the thought of, well, let's just say introducing myself to some of the Masters of the Universe made for entertaining, if morbid, thinking.

There is actually a wild indy movie along that theme. It's called "God Bless America." If you have Netflix streaming, pop some popcorn and have a watch Luna.
