  •  You can't really dispute the credibilty of (10+ / 0-)

released documents unless you are suggesting that they might be forgeries (and have evidence to back that up).  When Greenwald commits bad journalism, then call him out on it.  But to attack that messenger during a discussion of NSA surveilance overreach is an attempt to derail the discussion.

As I said, I have no problem with Snowden's credibility.

But Greenwald screwed up the interpretation of them -- for example, when he said that the NSA had direct access to ISP's servers -- ie they were directly snooping on servers -- when the documents showed that pursuant to an arrangement, the ISPs had provided servers to share information with the NSA.

Greenwald doesn't even understand the difference between a search warrant and a subpoena and he's supposed to be a constitutional lawyer.

Then there's the whole thing of his personal story of moving to Brazil to be with his partner because the US won't recognize his union, and it turns out that he's in Brazil because he has hundreds of thousands of dollars of lawsuit judgments and liens against him and only met his Brazilian partner after he arrived in Brazil.

A journalist only has his reputation and credibility -- we don't see his sources. And Greenwald is a serial liar.

      He has hurt Snowden's cause.
