  •  As a Texan I doubt it will be only blue states. (8+ / 0-)

The Navigators programs are just beginning. The insurance companies which plan to sell on the exchanges (including the federal ones in red states such as Blue Cross Blue Shield have begun to do their marketing. And the hospital administrators are also pushing for the ACA.

Today I saw in the news that the Dallas County Judge was pushing for people to sign up for the ACA. Dallas County, TX has the fourth largest number of uninsured of any county in the United States. The Dallas County taxpayers pay 21% of their property taxes to fund the Dallas County Hospital District expenses for the uninsured.

The media seems to be filled with untrained reporters and editors who report on what the executives in large governments and large organizations say - probably because their PR offices give the poorly trained reporters such pretty handouts.

There are a lot of things happening in the trenches that are not being reported. That "below the radar" location is where Obama won his Presidential election and reelection, it matters. Most of the organizations which are active at that level probably do NOT want broad media attention. Such attention merely will make them targets to be stomped on by the big elephants in the game.

The 2014 election has already begun. I think the Republicans are going to be even more shocked than when they looked for the headline "Romney Wins Election." And it's going to be on a much broader stage.

It should have been "(including the federal ones)".

The Dallas County Judge is the top political administrator or executive of the County. The title is confusing. I have no idea why he is a "judge."

a huge new market, and they are going after it no matter what idiotic red state politicians are doing.

After all, there's a big pot of federal money available to pay for the premiums of those who qualify, and the insurance companies want their cut. The insurers know sick people will sign up - they want the healthy ones too to even out the costs.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC wants the business and is going after it.

Insurance companies will no longer have to spend large sums determining who they can afford to insure. That saving alone will be immense.

And the few cases where the costs become too high will be handled on a reinsurance basis, probably through the federal government. That's going to be handled on a contract basis, I am sure. Actuaries are too expensive to work on civil service salaries.
