probably will about as "interesting" as the NJ Gov. race.

    •  Yeah, that 50 State Strategy was a waste (8+ / 0-)

      of money too.

Collins continues to get re-elected largely because Democrats and unenrolleds in Maine have bought into her carefully crafted "moderate" image, as well as the conventional wisdom that she's invincible.

Shenna Bellows is generating a lot of excitement here among the base Dems, and she has a serious background in grassroots activism (Marriage Equality campaign, voting rights, privacy, etc.).

Writing off campaigns a year out is a self-fullfilling prophecy, and discourages good progressive candidates from taking on challenges. Cynicism can be as destructive as Republican lies. Please take the time to find out about a candidate before you dismiss them.

      •  Not at all. (0+ / 0-)

It isn't cynicism and I think no Republican should run unopposed anywhere.  If Collins gets teabagged in the primary  Bellows may win.  However unless that happens Collins just isn't realistically vulnerable in the GE at this time.  Until/unless that changes I wouldn't call this race "interesting" yet, though I wish Bellows well.

issues such as the security-industrial-complex. If we can agree on anything with the Libertarians, this would be it.

On the one hand we have a woman who has been working for ten years from outside the government, fighting the  surveillance state from the Patriot Act to the NDAA to unwarranted surveillance and data collection, as well as fighting for LGBT equality and voting rights.

On the other, a woman who has been in power for 17 years, at the center of things as the head of the Homeland Security committee.

T'would be a shame if we didn't at least try to give it the old college try.
