      Syria.  I'm saying that that argument is distinct from Assad's supposed moderation.  One can be against attacking Syria and still believe that Assad is a thug.

        every vicious thug in that region, let alone afford to get sucked into a regional proxy war that could easily become a run-away train.

        This is a very dangerous, and ill-considered move, and a truly democratic-minded president would have "the debate" and seek AT LEAST Constitutionally mandated Congressional approval, not to mention the approval of the United Nations and NATO. That Obama is intent on going it alone is the height of authoritarian arrogance.

        It's just that he doesn't lack for competition in that part of the world.  That includes, of course, his internal and pseudointernal opponents.
