      has said this isn't about regime change.  That is what causes me to pause.  In general I would be all in for helping a democratic government come to power.  But we aren't apparently even going to attempt that.

      Ostensibly the reason to attack is that the REGIME used chemical weapons and we must punish them for this.  If we aren't going to attack the regime (i.e. Assad and the regime stakeholders) with the intent of removing them who are we going to attack?  Are the targets the people responsible for initiating the chemical attack or are we just lobbing bombs at some poor bastard that made the mistake of being near the object we've chosen to make a point.  

      How do we punish this regime without taking a side and working toward regime change?
