    is that only government can create monopolies, by stifling competition with regulations.

    Which is a bullshit argument, of course.  And I don't believe for a minute that people like Amash or any of the other libertarian politicians actually buy this argument.

    The key is, and this is what they've managed to do, to convince people that deregulation of business is actually ANTI-corporate and ANTI-big business, since it means the government can't collude with those businesses to create monopolies and what have you.

    Of course, the argument falls apart when you realize that less regulation also means they can get away with more.  But the people who believe the libertarian arguments about the free market aren't smart enough to realize that.  And the leaders of that movement don't need to answer that question, because all they have to do is go "Well, uh....FREE MARKET!" and all their little dumbass sociopathic cronies start cheering again.
