  •  Just a note before I read the diary - (11+ / 0-)

it's considered good form (and useful for purposes of not infringing copyright) to at least source the artwork and photos you're using for a diary, if they're not yours.

The artwork at the top is by Guillam Mari, link at http://www.guillemmari.daportfolio.com/

At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)

great artwork. Criminal for it to be used without attribution. I guess truth and respect are only qualities to be judged in other people but not practiced.

    •  thanks for noting the art work, serendipity, (3+ / 0-)

which spurred me to take another look at it. Now I know of two more fine artists.

and go straight for the ad hominem.  Normally, when people read diaries or articles they don't typically worry about credits unless it is their own work; it's an anomaly that a third party would think about such thing, unless there is another motive.

Bringing up the issue of the credits moves the focus away from the subject at hand to a personal attack on the person who wrote the diary...

Again, this is described in content of the links I added at the end of the diary.

Either way, thanks for participating; it helps in the discussion.

I wanted to bring it to your attention so that you could make the change in the diary. And I know you saw it early, since you recced it shortly after it went up.

This is the same kind of post I've made to the Top Comments diaries when I saw that there was a bad link in the diary. Or, if you've been reading the diaries here for very long, you'll have seen that the same kind of comments get made when a diarist quotes a full article rather than taking a few paragraphs and linking to the full article. There are copyright issues involved. I may be among the first to note them in connection with artwork, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be as much of a concern.

I don't understand your hostility. Nor do I see what ad hominem means in this case, unless you meant to reply to the comment just below mine. I would have thought "Thank you, I'll make the change" would have been an appropriate reply, and it would have avoided this entirely.

At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)
