Thanks for the linkage, Joe. That story really pisses me off. As a worker who has to use products sometimes made of toxic chemicals it is going to hamper my ability to research the safety implications, as a gardener too, as a cook, as a human.

Here's my version of the blues tonight. I was jogging earlier and this song came on my Ipod. Made me think of being on the sharp end of our bombs.

And to escape the news of our present this afternoon, I went into the past, doing some family genealogy to give to a nephew as a wedding present, and I found this very cool bit of info about one of my great aunts

President of the Alice Paul Branch of the National Womans Party,  1918

I have found are bits and pieces of information, leading me to believe that  xxx  was an extraordinary woman, who devoted much of her life to fight for civil rights, equality, education and a beloved brother….

She must have gotten involved in politics on a local level, in Minnesota, probably before women gained the right to vote nationally. She became the first female President of the Minnesota Woman's Trade Union League, ran for office with the Farmer-Labor Union and Minnesota’s Supreme Court.

...She wrote and spoke on the subject of education, functioned as an AFT organizer, and was a member of the advisory council of the State Employment Service.

It's nice to know I come from some solid lefty roots. I really want to investigate her further and write an article about her work someday.
