    ...watch this segment:

Hillary Mann Leverett worked in both the Clinton and W administrations.  Listen to what she has to say about how the Obama administration is handling Syria.

all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

    •  let me guess you think the Russian Times is a (0+ / 0-)

      source too?

It's always good to keep an open mind but the Obama adminstration have made their case if people want to object to it then make a case but endlessly asking 'what if' is't doing anything then concern trolling.

...that making analogies to 2003 is NOT CT.  There are credible critics who have worked in both Dem and Repub administrations who have dealt with the drum beat of war-making.

It is not CT to recognize the similarities between then and now.

        •  analogies are one thing (0+ / 0-)

the commenter said and I quote

there is no difference in the use of propaganda and rhetoric between today and 2003
          that's not an analogy

It might be inacurrate based on the absolute nature of the quote, but there are similarities.

Moreover, the same rhetorical techniques are being engaged -- the SoS is making the case for war with a country based on evidence that is questionable and without broad international support or media skepticism.  There may be 'differences', but they are diferences of degrees.  The techniques used in the run-up to a military intervention in Syria are generally the same as the techniques used in run-up to the AUMF in Iraq.  And there is nothing that resembles a Conspiracy Theory in recognizing those similarities.

I hope you watched the clip I linked to.  Hillary makes quite a compelling case -- and as an insider who has witnessed such techniques used by two different administrations, one Dem and one Repub, I think she speaks with a certain autority on the matter.
