    through the entire last several years. No resolution or sanctions on Syria can get through. Not for lack of trying.

    To be clear I have no friggin' clue what I think should or can be done here, but I have been reading comments all day on this blog, hoping some others had more insight, and I've got to say -- I am fairly shocked at the degree to which people don't seem to understand that rather "robust" diplomacy with Syria, Russia, and China has been tried for 2 years. It's not like this whole thing started in the middle of August.

    That doesn't provide an answer, but it does remove one from the table. Putin is going to block anything at the UN. That is clear. China has been more quiet on it, but won't likely feel pressured to budge unless Putin does. And he won't.
