Every country in the area would swarm them.

Sometimes the neverending struggle is a business model not a business challenge.

      I'll just add a twist

Google US Russia Proxy War Syria and you will find many chiming in on this possibility.

Here's my twist from an overactive imagination

Russia and China in back room dealing, decide to join forces.

Google Russia China Warming and you will find many chiming in.

Google New China Leader Hardliner and you will find many chiming in.

Now imagine China's leader coming down on "Capitalist Roaders"

China's oligarchy could maintain their wealth, status, and power by reducing their people to economic servitude to the state, and Russia could have cheap labor to enrich their Oligarchy even further.

Lastly, Googe China Japan Tensions, could China see a benefit of having Russia militarily backing them to settle the China Sea island issue?  Talk about a history of hostilities!

The China Sea issue could put Russia and the US at war via China/Japan conflict.

All this at a time when the US and the EU are having financial problems.

The world is a freaking mess.  Who will step up and stop the madness?

In the meantime, who has an incentive to end the Syrian civil war?

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.
