    ... and was actually a little let down by it, but I had such high hopes going in.

    You could try some successful adaptations of the Holmes/Watson chemistry next.  I'm a fan of the Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin books by Rex Stout.  'The Name of the Rose' is Umberto Eco's masterpiece with proto-detective 'William of Baskerville' and his sidekick Adso.  Wonderful book.

      The nice thing about Holmes was that all the stories we read were contained in just two volumes.  If we go to individual books that would be quite different.  We are a library reading group so perhaps the library system would have Stouts books available.
