A couple of years ago it was Hazelton, further up the road, where the mayor called attention to himself by announcing that no immigrants were welcome there.
He now takes up space in the PA House.

someone puts himself out to take the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune."
I expect it was hoped that the coal industry would resurrect. After all, smart people like the Kochs went about investing in minerals to help reduce emissions and then they bought up some alternative energy plants and shut them down. They predicted that the Regional Energy Compact in the Northeast would increase costs of electricity to the point where people would revert to coal, as they did when the oil crisis hit in the late '70s. But, history does not repeat. Electricity consumption has not kept pace with predictions (+7% annual increase ad infinitum) and all the energy plants that depend on profit are hurting. Cutting back on maintenance and improvements has gone as far as it can go. And why? Because Congress keeps dicking around with the dollar to secure the old war horses in office. They won't collect the revenue to keep the dollars moving, so the economy stagnates and the citizens are supposed to be grateful that they're not starving.
