  •  Could be a matter of selective attention (5+ / 0-)

from the media. We're still stuck with Pryor, Lincoln, Landrieu, Baucus (though thankfully not for long) and other conservative Democrats who draw attention to themselves by scuttling decent progressive legislation. But out of the spotlight, when we're replacing old Democrats with new Democrats, the new Democrats seem by and large to be pretty good. So there's that. Question is, how much influence can they amass if they're not getting any attention?

"The great lie of democracy, its essential paradox, is that democracy is the first to be sacrificed when its security is at risk. Every state is totalitarian at heart; there are no ends to the cruelty it will go to to protect itself." -- Ian McDonald

    •  Lincoln who? (0+ / 0-)

Blanche is no longer a senator, having been replaced by Republican John Boozman.

"In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican." - H. L. Mencken
