    Obviously its something he wants to do. I would tell him that if he jumped through a lot of hoops, one of which would be excellent school grades and behavior, I'd let him do it. Parents need al the leverage they can get.
    Then I'd make sure he did it right---schooling, license and all.
    I don't hunt at all, having a firm principle I never eat nothing I can't buy at the grocery store. But I know a lot of people who do---I live in rural OR-- and some of them are the best wildlife people and environmentalists I know.

    I took my son out shooting a few times when he was a teenager but he really has little interest in it. he lives in Chile and doesn't own a gun, tho he could. I have 3 brothers and I don't think any of them has a gun. So I don't think its genetic or a family trait.

    I don't think you can go wrong encouraging your kid to spend time in The Great Outdoors, I think its beneficial.
