    but does it mean that a country can do anything within its own borders?

    So, in that case, we should never intervene in another country.  Nor should the United Nations be able to do so.

      Intervention is a rare exception, not the rule, and the US is making it the rule.  If this happened 15 years ago, I would support a limited intervention.  But it isn't 15 years ago.  It's 12 long years of wars on the ground not to mention drones from Yemen to Pakistan.  We are bombing Muslim countries all the time.  To take this out of that context is what I can't do.  If we're unable to deter the use of CW in Syria, we can look in our own mirror and see a result of what happens when you incite chaos in a region that is volatile without someone lighting a match.
