    But the word is "similar". Could be the rebels got a recipe from the anarchist's handbook or similar and cooked something of lower quality than the Syrian government would be expected to produce.

      organophosphate. There's loads of them.

      Dichlorvos, for instance, might make a pretty good sub for sarin, and it's commonly used as an insecticide right here in the States.

      The action of the two chems is similar enough that they could easily be mistaken, without analysis of un-degraded sample.
