    ...and her age, I would guess she died in childbirth.

    Boston was a small town back then, and more or less a "frontier" kind of place, so I imagine it was probably much like the far west of a couple hundred years later - populated by brave and resourceful people who had pulled up stakes in England and were forging new lives on their new continent.
