Who thinks that once this story of poverty wages, minimal benefits, and worker intimidation becomes genuinely wide spread that Americans will actually rally to the cause of workers?  Not a chance, so long as Walmart maintains their low price margins.  Dollars will rule even as communities continue to suffer from the abusive monopolist practices that undermine their futures.  The advertising propaganda machine will control a solid 30%, the whole Tea Party lot and their under informed friends.  Shopping will simply continue as usual.  Workers' strikes might even spread but with decades now of anti-union, anti-worker, pro-boss sentiment saturating the culture, there is little foreseeable change.  Walmart will use the police and then the politicians to bring this to an end and desperate people will go back to their jobs because the alternative is...right, public assistance has been cut.  We're already a banana republic.

And Walmart & Lowes are the only big stores near us. Still 45 minutes to get there. I either find whatever I want at the grocery or a local small hardware or go online. I have also saved money by not grabbing things I don't really have to have.
I have to say though, many here probably don't have the option to do what we do.
